First Year ReflectionsMy first year in the doctoral program challenged me with new learning in an exciting environment. I am so happy to have learned new concepts and principles about leadership. Surprisingly, I retained the information better because the year involved practical work. I am grateful for this experience because I discovered skills that are applicable to my life. As I reflect on the years of learning, I couldn't be more excited about what comes next. The Hero's Journey mission has become a vital and meaningful mission. The article became a challenge because I thought about my life and the elements that influence my skills as a leader. Putting my experiences down on paper became a difficult thing to do because I felt vulnerable sharing things I had never considered putting down on paper. Ultimately, the assignment proved therapeutic as I was able to answer questions about my life and make connections about why I do what I do. The innovation segment became a valuable experience for me because I never thought that innovation could become so powerful. One concept I learned from this segment is to look around my organization with an observer's eye. I found the idea effective because instead of criticizing my organization on the surface, I needed to observe the organization in its entirety. Nonviolent communication has proven to be one of the most effective tools I have ever encountered. I was able to use my skills to reduce conflict. NVC made sense to me because it gave me the comfort I needed to resolve conflicts. I also liked the concept behind the DISC style. By applying the concept in my work environment, I notice a change among my colleagues. I learned a lot about leadership through the program. I know I sometimes struggle to keep my commitments, but I remind myself of the importance of being a trustworthy person. I focus on expressing my gratitude, because I realize the importance of my life. I express my gratitude because I know that everything that exists in my life is for no reason. Integrity becomes an important value in my life, simply because I know that my credibility is at stake. Working in an environment where integrity is sometimes forgotten, my duty becomes to be an example of integrity to all. people I meet. My goal becomes a reality in my life because I continually see the positivity in things about my life. My life goal: “I am the geyser for people to spew positivity to those around them. » Describes how you lived your values and made your purpose a reality in your life.
