With the overwhelming amount of facial cleansing products available, it can be difficult for the consumer to choose the most beneficial facial cleanser for their skin type. This article will discuss three different types of facial cleansers. The first facial cleanser is Ocusoft Foaming Lid Scrub, a non-irritating eyelid cleanser. The second facial cleanser is the Clearskin Professional Deep Cleansing Scrub made by Avon, formulated to combat all phases of the acne cycle. The third facial cleanser is Velocity made by Mary Kay, a three-in-one cleanser. Below I will describe each product; ingredient list, manufacturing notes, and my personal opinion on each of these three facial cleansers. The first facial cleanser is the original Ocusoft Foaming Lid Scrub; This is a gentle, pre-foamed eyelid cleanser that effectively removes oil, debris and flaky skin from around the eyes and eyelids. Ocusoft Foaming Lid Scrub is formulated with water, PEG-80, sodium trideceth sulfate, PEG-150 distearate, disodium lauroamphodiacetate, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, laureth-13 carboxylate sodium, sodium chloride, PEG-15Cocopolyamine and Quaternium-15. The main ingredient in Ocusoft Foming Lid Scrub is water, which acts as a solvent that dissolves other substances. The second ingredient is PEG-80, an emulsifying chemical that helps products combine. The third ingredient is sodium trideceth sulfate which helps make the product foamy. The eighth ingredient is golden root seal extract which is attributed with the following herbal properties, namely anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. The ninth ingredient is cinnamon extract which is also an antimicrobial. The tenth ingredient is lauramine oxide. Its qualities are antistatic, foam stimulating, fragrant and viscosity controlling. The eleventh ingredient is trierhanolamine, an organic chemical compound that is a pH adjuster and emulsifying agent. The twelfth ingredient is an acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross polymer which is an emulsion stabilizer and viscosity increasing agent.
