Essay / Statement of Intent for a Master in...
Our world has changed. In the early days, it took a lot of time and resources to transmit a letter or news – people had to send messages across huge territories, using animals and birds. Nowadays, it only takes a few seconds to receive a message from another part of the world. Can you imagine this? Billions of users around the world, terabytes of information are sent from one continent to another, the number of nodes between the sender and the recipient could exceed a thousand. Even though this system seems to work in a complicated way, using telecommunications services is easy for a regular user. Each person can pick up the phone or turn on the computer terminal to start the call from any part of the planet. In the past, people didn't see each other for years, but today, video conferencing and telepresence are changing the way we communicate. All the history of the world is just a click away, our lives have become digital, our friends are becoming virtual. What will happen in the future? There are still many more discoveries to be made. I was fascinated to feel part of the telecommunication system, to develop with it and solve its problems. My interest in this field began when I was in 10th grade. It was the usual summer and all I wanted to do was relax and have fun. However, my plans were about to change: my mother asked me if I wanted to work in a company to earn some pocket money and become more independent. This company configured ADSL, which was then widespread in our city. I considered this job easy, as I had prior experience with PCs and ADSL routers. It seemed to me that I was going to forget about this assignment immediately after it was completed middle of paper...... After this conversation, there was no doubt that I wanted to apply for admission and, hopefully, be accepted. My vacation motivated me to investigate Northeastern University. I spent time finding information about it: about schools, scientific research, teachers. Suddenly, my desire to apply became even stronger than before. Particularly because of the unique nature of the Boston Master in Telecommunications Systems Management. I have many plans for my future after graduation. My goal is to contribute to the development of global communications. People will always need to stay in touch with each other, it's our nature. I am sure that Northeastern University and the Graduate School of Engineering will help me expand my knowledge, so that I can apply it in the future to enable our society to stay more easily connected in our big world..
