  • Essay / My motivation for working in public service

Ever since I was a child, helping others was something in which I found happiness. Being able to make someone laugh, helping my friends with something they are struggling with shows them that I care. In today's world where technology is developing and it is becoming easier for people to be separated. But being able to spend time with and serve your friends, family, or just people in your community can be one of the rewarding decisions you can make. When you open the door to someone and ask them how their day was? It may seem like a small gesture, but it will have a positive impact on you and them. For my service project, my classmates and I walked around our school and picked up all the trash we saw on the ground. It won't make someone happy right away and it won't make you feel positive. But when someone walks through our school the next day and sees how clean it is, it will make them happy. Picking up trash isn't even a big deal and it doesn't take much time though; this small gesture can make your environment pleasant and this way you also serve your community. Say no to plagiarism. When you treat someone with respect, they will return that respect to you as well. Although we all grew up hearing about the importance of serving others, when you serve others it will bring you joy. Public service can make one person happy and has a major domino effect on others. You can improve the world, one day, one person, and one act of kindness at a time. Public service can bring communities together. For example, I go to downtown Detroit once a month with my church's youth group to distribute food to the homeless. We volunteer with different groups of people from different nationalities, but we come together to serve others. It strengthens our relationships with each other. Serving others can healthily boost our self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Everyone in this world needs help and everyone can help someone they know. Start with small gestures like smiling and asking someone how their day is going? Giving money or providing shelter to someone can have a huge impact on that person. Mother Teresa is someone I admire, because she doesn't care who you are, she will help you. She did public service every day. If we all did public service, we could make a big change in this world and make it a better place for everyone. Together, our communities will become stronger. Community service gives you the opportunity to learn new skills such as communication, teamwork and practice important skills used in the workplace such as teamwork, communication and problem solving. In conclusion, public service can have a huge impact on individuals and diverse communities. Works Cited Caragata, L., Sivaramakrishnan, J. and Thapa, S. (2020).
