BIOLA UniversityBIOLA University, located in La Mirada, California, is a four-year university offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. BIOLA stands for Bible Institute of Los Angeles. BIOLA is a private Bible college and undergraduate students who attend have a minor in Bible. Some available specializations include business/marketing, theology, visual and performing arts, psychology, and communications. The specialty that interests me the most is biology. They offer a bachelor's degree in general biology. Full-time tuition costs $32,142, but the average cost with financial aid is $16,910. The student population is 4,353 undergraduates, and 42% of these undergraduates live in school housing. The accommodation offered is mixed, for men, for women and in apartments. Minimum admission requirements are a cumulative GPA of 2.75. With my current GPA and likely SAT score, merit scholarships would be $12,000. Athletics include basketball, baseball, volleyball, and football, and many intramural sports are an option. Some of BIOLA's activities include campus ministry, radio station, yearbook, opera and theater. The retention rate after the first year is 15%. The graduation rate is 69% after six years. The student/faculty ratio is 16 students to 1 faculty member. This number seems low, but when compared to other colleges, it is a common number. I would like to attend this college because I have seen the campus, I understand the cost and my brother attends this college. I've been there and the community is great. Another piece of information that may be helpful to me when choosing this college is their baseball program. I would like to play baseball in college and an opportunity to do so would help convince me to...... middle of paper ...... all the support services available to students. Some services include student chaplaincy, various counseling and health services. The number of students applying to Western Oregon is 2,841 and the number of students accepted is 2,510. The number of students applying to Western Oregon is 1,027. Some aspects Important things that Western Oregon considers when someone applies are academic average, strength of high school record, and standardized test scores. To apply, someone must take the SAT or ACT. Western Oregon offers AP credits but not CLEP credits for a wide variety of subjects. Overall, Western Oregon is a great public school that I'm not very affiliated with. I would need to do more research, visit a university, and ask others for their thoughts on Western Oregon. My cousin attended there and he could be a great resource for me when deciding which college to attend..
