Essay / Essay on Brazil - 1951
IntroductionThe Brazilian ethanol industry has been an important driver of economic growth, representing an innovative solution to alleviate the problem of depletion of fossil fuels. (Serigo, 2014) Ethanol is a biofuel, most of which is produced from sugar cane in Brazil and corn in the United States. (Jagger, 2012) The future of this industry in Brazil is promising but its growth faces internal and external challenges. (Anselm, 2011) In this essay I would like to analyze the competitiveness of Brazilian ethanol in the global energy market by applying Porter's Diamond model as a framework, with comparisons to the US ethanol industry based on corn.Porter's DiamondThe Porter Diamond model was introduced by Michael Porter in 1990. According to Porter (1985), the competitive advantage of a state or sector is having an advantage over its rivals in terms of attracting customers and defending against competitive forces. Basically, four factors determine competitiveness: factor conditions, demand conditions, business strategy and structure, and other related and supporting industries. advanced factors of competition such as skilled labor, technological innovation and government support. (Porter, 1980) Land Ethanol production in Brazil mainly benefits from favorable growing conditions and the abundance of land suitable for sugar cane. Brazil uses only 1.6% of its total resources... middle of document ...... analysis at the national level is much more difficult than expected. My logical thinking and analytical skills were improved while analyzing and processing masses of data, selecting useful information to support the report's arguments. There are many ways to present a phenomenon or object, but choosing the most effective one is something I am still learning. A logical structure is crucial for presenting evidence, without which the presentation would not be convincing, even when the evidence supports the idea. Most importantly, I changed my learning style from accepting what people told me to actually validating what they say. During my research, I was convinced by some arguments from some sources, but it turned out that they contradicted other evidence. Therefore, without careful critical thinking, my thoughts could have been manipulated..
