Accordingly, this article examines the manifestation of the author's childhood in his story The Sun Also Rises and the effects of the women in his life on the moral and ethical relativism of the characters in the same story. He also analyzes the importance and influence of the First World War on The Sun Also Rises. The Sun Also Rises is Hemingway's first notable literary work. It is the story of the lives of a number of Americans who lived in Europe after World War I. An American World War I expatriate and journalist, Jake Barnes, narrates the novel's storyline. Themes depicted by Hemingway in this novel include the uselessness of the "lost generation", male insecurity, breakdown of communication, excessive drinking, and false friendships. Nonetheless, as essential as the premise and context of the novel are, the characters are the heart and soul of Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. When compiling The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway wanted to use his knowledge of journalism to write fiction. His life experiences can be put on paper and produce a breathtaking novel because if one pays attention from his childhood to his last day, it is evident that he lived an extraordinary life. He was also a man who loved adventure and his literary works can be considered as a diary in which he kept track of all his experiences.
