Healthcare has always been an interesting subject all over the world. Voltaire once said: “The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” » It may seem that different health systems are doing nothing when it comes to health care, but ultimately, many are trying to cure diseases and improve health systems. Everyone is always competing for the best health care. Different healthcare systems are different across the world, but all have similar ideas regarding at least the provision of some form of healthcare. Some countries in particular will be heavily highlighted: Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Japan in the way they work on the costs, access and quality of their own countries' health systems. Switzerland is primarily known for its excellent healthcare, ranked as the best in the world. This is largely due to the way it is organized. The reorganization began in 1994 with the Federal Health Insurance Act, which came into force in 1996. The system is essentially organized into 26 cantons, which are the equivalent of American states. Each canton is responsible for the health care of the inhabitants of its region and insurance companies operate on a regional basis (James). The government decides which policies will be covered and sets the rates for medical expenses (McManus). Additionally, within the system there is a complex way of organizing access, quality and cost. In terms of access, everyone is required to purchase and maintain healthcare during the first three months of living in the country. If you cannot afford insurance, the government subsidizes low-income families. This is extremely important to ensure that everyone has health care. Again, access is obtained based on the canton on... middle of paper ...... the care system would be difficult to implement in America with the complex methods by which everything is paid for. We have many different systems in the United States. However, with Obama's new care, the American health care system is progressing and shows similar qualities in these different countries. It is interesting how different the American healthcare system is from that of every other country in the world. Most are universal and require health care. We're trying to achieve this in America, but many don't like being taxed if they don't have it. We certainly have a lot to learn from other countries. Overall, Switzerland has an excellent system, supported by the UK. Japan is also on the right track. America is definitely trying to progress, and it will eventually. It all comes down to weighing which is more important: cost, quality or access to healthcare..
