  • Essay / Changing the Perspective of Youth Discipleship: From the Outside...

Introduction Today, youth ministry leaders are too focused on creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere to attract more people. We want to attract more people to the church. We worry that they won't be able to bond with people. We are afraid that newcomers will be bored. This is why we put so much emphasis on the relationship in the sense of pleasure. However, the other side of discipleship is being lost. Although Christian teachings have been taught through Bible studies and private lessons, this is not enough. The current need for discipleship and mentoring is to show believers that doctrines, teachings, and studies are to be practices. This knowledge should not be taught as mere theory. At the same time, if the emphasis is only on the practical part, it is a mistake. The reason, meaning and purpose of each Christian practice must be explained. The purpose of this article is to describe the mentoring and discipleship model, which will focus on leading believers to learn what, why, and how to live as a true worshiper. It is assumed that these factors will provide the foundation for healthy and consistent growth in youth spirituality. Spirituality in Light of the Purpose of Ministry The purpose of all ministry in the Church is to help the believer be transformed into the image of God by the Holy Spirit. . The Church must facilitate this change and participate in this process. What is the purpose of youth ministry as an integral part of the Church? The General Council of Disciples of the United Methodist Church in 1983 accepted the following goal for its youth ministry: To love young people where they are, to encourage them to develop their relationships with God, to provide them with opportunities for growth and growth and challenge them to respond. to God's call to serve in their communities.
