Essay / World War II - 1236
World War II took place between 1939 and 1945 and involved the vast majority of the world's nations as well as all the major powers. It is difficult to include all important events in a short history book. But Norman Stone did it with his book World War Two, he did a great job of highlighting all the important events. Stone includes the struggles that countries have overcome and the victories they have achieved. It is concise about the conflicts that took place during the deadliest war in human history. World War II written by Norman Stone was a brief history of World War II. After World War I, all the United States wanted was peace. But with the desire for revenge and the demand for security from Germany to prevent it from rearming, World War II broke out. Stone begins at the beginning of what happened after World War II and led up to the start of World War II. When Hitler invaded Poland, Britain and France's response was to declare war on Germany. Drawing on its past experiences during the First World War, and using its new method of blitzkrieg, Germany attacks Denmark and Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and France. It was quickly conquered by Germany. Then Germany attacked Britain from the air, the British Air Force was no match for the Germans and overall it was a failure for Germany. The next attack took place in North Africa. Germany needed help from its Italian allies and everything turned out to be a failure. When Germany invaded Germany, they were making progress but it was a downfall for them. Russia was a large country and, on top of that, the weather conditions made Germany's war effort difficult. The Soviets had determination and soon it was too much for Germany to overcome and in the end they had to retreat and leave Soviet territory... middle of paper ...... to Poland. In the aftermath of World War II, Stone argues that the end of World War II was less neat than that of World War I. It ended officially with peace treaties a few months after the armistice, but during World War II there was not a real peace treaty with Germany until 46 years later. This is compelling because when the big three met, the meeting ended without any agreement. Stone's World World Two is a quick and engaging read about World War II. he makes it one of the best reads by writing it from a European perspective and making it quirky. His novel is ideal for learning about the causes of World War II and the battles that took place. It also includes the consequences that occurred after World War II and are of interest to many readers after the war ended. Overall, World War II was the deadliest war in the United States and it permanently shaped us and our history..
