  • Essay / Recruitment Case Study - 1196

In some Asian countries, for example China and Japan, qualifications are of major importance when companies define a “good” employee. Purcell (2002) found that employers tend to use educational qualifications as thresholds for considering applicants to ensure that applicants' potential and abilities can reach a minimum level. Additionally, with the dramatic increase in the number of graduate applicants in all countries, not just the UK, many employers or businesses have increased the need for a degree as a basic qualification for a wide range of jobs and not only in the professional field. (Price, A 2007) In jobs requiring high qualifications, such as doctor, dentist, should always focus on degrees because these jobs require a wide range of knowledge to support their work. However, if employers rely solely on a specific unit factor, this can be time consuming and affect employers seeking entitlement.
