  • Essay / The Wonderful World of Disney - 760

The company I chose for the project is Disney Corporation. I chose the Walt Disney Company because it is one of the largest companies I know and one of the most successful companies in the world. People come from Asia, Europe and everywhere else in America just to visit Disney. The beginnings of what is today a national company date back to 1923, when brothers Roy and Walt Disney (ages 30 and 22) opened the Disney. Brothers Studio in a windowless office. They started with a few thousand dollars (most of which was borrowed), a used camera, and not much else. Their goal was modest: to make animated films. Almost as soon as the office became their studio, Walt and Roy began making their first film series entitled: Alice's Wonderland. Even though the brothers didn't make much money in the first year, they remained confident and Walt told his father, with his typical optimism, that he would "make the Disney name famous all over the world." At first, Walt produced much of the company's animation, but he soon realized that there were other artists more talented than him. So he turned to managing the animators hired by the studio. While Walt focused on the creative side of the business, Roy handled all the financial elements; trying to keep Walt - who hardly cared about money - on a limited budget. In 1940, two animated films made less money than they cost. Refusing to lay off a thousand employees, the small company renamed Walt Disney Productions became a public company selling its shares to the public. In 1952, WED Enterprises was formed and began work on Walt's latest idea: a theme park called Disneyland. Disneyland's opening on July 17, 1955 was barely anticipated...... middle of paper ...... continues to grow and prosper. People coming here from out of state, people coming here from out of state, and the growing economy all help make Disney so profitable. One of the other major factors that could help make Disney even bigger or send it spiraling from its pedestal in the clouds is being able to keep pace with technology. In conclusion, Disney has worked hard to get to where it is today. I think Disney will continue to grow. But what happens to Disney depends on the economy and technological progress around the world.
