Essay / My Journey into the Art World: Story
This narrative essay is about my journey into the art world. I have always loved art and been involved in art throughout my life. The first time I discovered art was when I was five years old. With random colors and a paintbrush, I created a piece of art with everything I love to do. My mother thought I had talent in art, so she was the one who first introduced me to the art world. I loved expressing my emotions with different colors and drawing things on paper. However, the first time I learned art was to prepare for art college. I was only 12 years old, but every day I was at the academic art school for 14 hours. I improved many skills and no one could even imitate my portfolio. Even though I had a high artistic technique, it was very stressful for me. I still learned the same things every day and was supposed to finish a portfolio in four hours. If I didn't finish on time, teachers would yell at me and even tear up my portfolio. I had a lot of stress and it made me think that art wasn't for me. Say no to plagiarism. However, I decided to make a change because I wasn't sure whether I should continue learning an art or not. I realized that if I stayed in this region, I would not be able to enjoy art. So, at the age of 13, I moved to Singapore and started gaining access to different education systems. It was more freedom, and after a three-year hiatus from art, I finally learned that I still loved making art, but without forcing myself. After my first year, I started taking art more seriously because I was sure that art was something. that I would like to pursue in my career. When I was in Junior Art class, the goal was to have an AP Art class my junior year. So I asked my instructor, and she thought I had a strong ability to participate in pre-AP art classes because I had a strong talent in art. I had been practicing my art skills since my sophomore year, and I took an AP-Studio Drawing Art and challenged myself my freshman year. I loved creating my artwork, but creating 24 pieces in 9 months was a big challenge for me. However, unlike previous years, I always loved art, even though it presented a challenge for me. I always stayed in the art room after school and practiced every day. Additionally, I got a five on the AP – Studio Drawing Art and these results show my immense efforts. While I was taking AP Art, I always made high quality artwork, but all the styles in the portfolios were similar. So, my art teacher warned me that I should spend most of my time and effort taking risks on each of the portfolios. Although some may have felt frustrated, I really enjoyed the process. Creating different types of artwork allowed me to gain freedom and express my ideas. Art made me a person capable of conveying messages to everyone through drawings. Taking AP Art Studio during my freshman year was a childhood memory and brought me back to my growing interest in the arts. I suddenly remembered the days of my childhood when I applied paint everywhere and expressed my emotions. At that time, I return to the art studio and develop my artistic techniques. After completing AP Art and already having 24 pieces of art, I wanted to create, 55(1), 159-169.
