    Kansas IssuesKansas is a very special place, politically speaking, as Thomas Frank's book "What's Wrong with Kansas" shows. The big political question Frank is trying to answer is: why do so many people vote against their social and economic interests in the United States? Why do many Kansas residents who were poor working class choose to vote Republican when it is not in their best interest? Upper-class Republicans have manipulated Kansas residents into believing they have their best interests at heart, when in reality all they are promoting is privatization, deregulation, and monopolies in all sectors, such as cows and meat. The developed economic policies do not benefit the majority of the state's population. How come irrelevant issues continue to plague Kansas? Politicians and pundits are urging conservative Republicans, known as “against,” to take action by raising issues, such as gay rights and abortion.
