My research site is located in Westford, Massachusetts, adjacent to Grassy Pond and the triangle of this pond is located between Nutting Road, Plain Road, and Depot Street. My site at Grassy Pond can be found by parking in the area off Plain Road and then continuing down the path until you see a broken down fence on your right. This is the site for my field journal. On my site, I am mainly surrounded by trees. On one side there is a path that will take you in a circle around Grassy Pond and on the other side it is a path going down towards Grassy Pond, but before you reach the pond you enter wet areas. These wetlands are very muddy and are ideal for finding tracks. In winter, when it snows, you can't see the wet areas. On my site there are lots of logs and this is where I find most of my moss and fungi as well as some small plants. The ground is usually just dirt, but in autumn it is covered with leaves and in winter it is covered with snow and ice. Apart from the pond, there is not much water on my site. The pond water is calm, not clear and looks dud....
