Making gun control stricter would involve only certain models being legal and a rigorous process for obtaining a license. If America allowed the legalization of only certain models of weapons, the death toll among mass murderers could be significantly reduced. According to motherjones.com, between 2011 and 2013, 31 of 62 mass murders involved weapons containing high-capacity magazines, meaning magazines that can hold more than 10 bullets. High-capacity magazines should be banned because the shooter would have to spend much more time loading their weapon, which could allow people to escape precious seconds. If the Bureau of Firearms closely monitored people with firearms and took precautions such as requiring people with firearms licenses to register and report any activity related to gun use weapon, the Bureau can easily verify whether people are using their weapons properly or whether suspicious activity may be taking place. A study by economist Richard Florida showed that states like Ohio, Washington and Nebraska have stricter gun controls; in turn, they also have a lower gun death rate (per 100,000) compared to other states.
