Odili (1990) and Okpala (2007) also revealed that the major problem hindering students' understanding of mathematics and mathematical concepts is the teaching approach adopted by most teachers. Mathematics teaching in secondary schools in Nigeria focuses on the conventional (traditional) method or explanatory lecture methods. Various studies have identified that teachers still use the conventional or traditional teaching method to manage the teaching of mathematical concepts (Agwagah 2004; Odilli 2006; Ezeh 2011). These methods are teacher-centered and do not leave room for student activities and creative thinking.
