Another way to define "master morality" and "slave morality" is to define a person's culture. A person's culture defines their upbringing which influences their behavior and opinions (it also gives them different views on right and wrong). The author recognizes both the "Master" and the "Slave" as humans with different histories and different views on the same issues, even though they lived in close proximity to each other. For example, every religion has a basic concept: do no harm to others. Yet each individual who interprets the text (even if they are of the same religion) defines it differently due to their upbringing or personal background.
