The 1960s were a decade where inventions, movements and people changed history. A historical figure is Andy Warhol. He was different from the others, but that suited him. He is best known for his artistic work and the creation of screen printing processes in contemporary art. He created screen prints of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe. Andy is also recognized for his out-of-the-box thinking. He believed that being different was okay as long as you were yourself. His works constitute for him an important element of pop art culture. Andrew Warhola was born in 1928 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He had two older brothers and was the youngest of three children. His father's name was Ondrej Warhola. His parents, Ondrej and Julia, emigrated from Czechoslovakia. Andrew had a neurological illness when he was young. He had to stay in bed for several months. While he was bedridden while ill, his mother began giving him drawing lessons. Soon, drawing became Andrew's favorite activity. He was also a big fan of movies. When he was nine years old, his mother bought him a camera. He also photographed, in the basement of his house transformed into a darkroom. Andrew went to Holmes Elementary School. While he was in elementary school, he was offered free art classes at the Carnegie Institute, so he took them. When he was 14, Andrew's father died of liver jaundice. Andrew was so saddened that he didn't go to his father's funeral and hid under his bed for the wake. His father knew and believed in his son's artistic talent, so he invested all his savings in his will to finance his university education. That year, Andrew went to Schenley High School. He graduated in 1945. He had enrolled at the Carnegie Institute for Technology so he could study Pictoria...... middle of paper...... in chest. Within thirty minutes, Andy was pronounced dead. A doctor had opened Andy's chest and started compressing his heart, trying to get it pumping again. The doctor had saved Andy's life, but it had taken Andy a long time to recover from the incident. That didn't stop Andy from painting. From the 1970s to the 1880s he continued to paint. He even published a magazine called Interview magazine. On February 21, 1987, Andy underwent gallbladder surgery. While trying to recover from the operation, Andy sadly passed away. When he died, he was only 58 years old. Even though he has passed away, his legacy lives on. He was and still is the prince of Pop Art. One of his famous quotes was "In the future, everyone will be famous around the world for 15 minutes." He never had children and no one to carry his name. Rest in peace Andy Warhol, your artistic work will live forever.
