In today's society we don't downgrade for the benefit of others, we do the work ourselves. In the past the higher power always asked other people to do their job for them, for example in the premiere of the play the king and queen asked the hunter to take the baby to kill it while they should have done it themselves. Today we have better judgments. We don't believe everything we are told. In the past, they didn't have better judgment. They believed everything they were told, no matter what. They didn't even think that it could be a false accusation, for example in the play where the king and queen believed for the blind benefit of Tiresias that the baby would grow up and kill his father (king) and marry his mother (queen). This really shows how much our society has changed today. In today's society, we are much more human than in the past. We care about people we don't even know. Today, when people are hurt or there is a death in the family or a death anywhere, we feel remorse and sorrow for them.
