  • Essay / Courageous Movie - 941

The movie Courageous addresses important issues we face in today's society. This film shows the importance of family, the danger of drugs and the major importance of Christian values. Courage causes me to think about how I treat others around me and how I can become a better Christian. I learned that living a life focused on oneself and seeking the pleasures of the world consists not only of superficial and temporary happiness, but also of pain, suffering, emptiness and desire. of something more than what we have. Many characters go through changes and I had many religious experiences throughout this film. The main characters who experience and go through changes are Nathan, his daughter Jade, Derrick, Adam and his family, Shane and David. Each of these characters changes throughout the film and learns the importance of a father in the family and the importance of spending time with our families. Adam, a corporal, starts out as a man who works every day to catch the "bad guys" in society, but he doesn't spend enough time with his family, especially his son. He prefers his nine-year-old daughter to his fifteen-year-old son. Adam views his daughter as a gentle child and his son as a stubborn teenager going through a rebellious stage. However, when his daughter is killed in an accident, his view of family changes. In his grief, he says he wishes he had been a better father. His wife reminds him that he is still a father and he realizes that he still has a chance with his son, Dylan. After his daughter dies, he creates a resolution from scripture that outlines how he will become a better father. Because of the resolution he makes, he opens up and spends more time with his son. Middle of paper...... lie. In doing so, he is rewarded by receiving a promotion to his position. This also shows that faith in God is more important than a person's position. This film does an incredible job of showing the importance of a life filled and directed by God. It emphasizes the importance of faith, making the right decision, and choosing to honor God, regardless of the consequences and repercussions that may arise. Not only does this film address societal issues, but it also points to biblical scriptures that help point us in the right direction. The biggest lesson this movie taught me is that if I put all my faith in God, no matter what, He will provide for me, watch over me, and take care of me. I learned that expressing belief in God is not enough. I must live each day believing and trusting Him and I must show my trust and faith through my actions and words..
