Essay / My experience in learning to read and write
An individual's life is transformed as the person encounters new ideas which, in turn, make him gain experience. Experience is therefore the best teacher. This implies that people go through different types of events and wonders that reinforce their transformation. For example, after the birth of a child, he has to go through different stages of life. Such an event helps him get a relevant education that will make him an important person in the future. A good example is where the child is taken to school to learn new concepts such as interacting with others, reading and writing. Thanks to this, the child develops until he reaches adult life where he can fend for himself and depend on himself. This essay seeks to describe my experience in learning to write and read. My first learning process was very interesting although it was accompanied by challenges. At first, my parents could read to me to test my ability to understand. They had a book of Dr. Suess stories that was very popular then. They had to teach me to read using this book as an example. The book was titled “The Cat in the Hat.” However, my interest was only in looking at and admiring the cover of the book which contained colorful pictures. As a result, I was annoyed by the way they came into my room at night to read the book to me. Therefore, I didn't like their habit, even if it was for my own benefit. The book was popular in the sense that it was the only affordable book parents could check out for their children. Say no to plagiarism. If I had any problem pronouncing words, my mother was always by my side to help me pronounce them effectively. This means that it was my mother who helped me the most in learning to read and write. Over time, I began to pronounce words correctly. My efficiency in pronouncing the words was boosted when she told me to take in each syllable of the word when reading. After I learned to read the words written in English, my mother also helped me write them on the ground with one finger. Additionally, she held my hand to guide me on how to trace a given letter. It was after I learned to write each alphabetical letter that I learned to write the words. The learning process became very easy for me since I was told that it would be very easy once I went to school. By the time I went to school, my first teacher had no problem teaching me to read and write. In conclusion, the only special memory that I keep in mind is the way my parents taught me to read and write because they transformed me a lot.
