  • Essay / New Office Tour - 788

If I had the opportunity to create and design a medical office, I would strive to create an environment suitable for average suburban families of any income level, providing a comfort and convenience. I would first find a facility where most of our patients' care could be provided in one location. Ideally, there would be various specialties, a pharmacy, radiology and imaging services, and laboratory services. This would provide convenient access to patients requiring dual care, specialties or medications after their first visit to us. When you enter this office, you will be peacefully enveloped in pale sage, light brown and neutral tones, creating a feeling of warmth and comfort. You can hang your coat or dry your umbrella by the door (Wells, 2005). Beautiful canvases with scenic views from across the United States would provide a glimpse of the magnificence our country still retains, and silk trees creating small accents and a sense of harmony throughout the room (Harrison, 2010, p .4). There would be some sort of separation in the waiting area. In the area closest to the door would be a reading nook, for those seeking peace and privacy while waiting. They would have four oversized armchairs to relax in, magazines, newspapers, educational materials and slightly dimmer lighting. The center of the room would be the main waiting area, with large fabric chairs without arms, unrestricted and giving individuals a sense of personal space. Ten chairs faced each other on either side of a large coffee table filled with magazines and newspapers. Five more chairs would serve as the "head" of the area facing the wall with a mounted television, water station, and all of our teaching materials organized for retrieval...... middle of paper ......cts of our practice would be beneficial. I would require in-depth training on our electronic recording system to ensure that new employees then receive appropriate training. I would like human resources training to maintain an environment conducive to the professional development of our employees. Working to create and maintain a successful practice would be my top priority. Works Cited Harrison, C. (2010). Medical office manual. (pp. 2-27). New York, NY: McGraw-Hill. Wells, J. (May 2005).
