This family takes advantage of the traditional vacation that families have every year to show off their daily problems, attitudes, and emotions on a road trip. O'Connor uses Southern language to tell his story. I think the grandmother uses different types of language to express her thoughts and feelings. The author pushes the audience to feel the grandmother's pride when it comes to identifying what she wants. O'Connor shows how dominant the grandmother is when she does a great job of persuading the family to go where they want to go. I think the Misfits will be punished, but I would have loved to read that in this story. The grandmother's hope in God seemed to be coming to an end.
