He received the Male Vocalist of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music in the years 1984-85, 1988 and 1997. Strait acquired the album award of the year in 1985 for “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” and in 1997 for “Carrying Your Love with Me.” He won Entertainer of the Year in 1989 and Male Country Vocalist of the Year in 1991. George won the Tex Ritter Award for Single of the Year for "Pure Country" in 1993. He won single of the year in 1996 for “Check Yes or No”. Strait won Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for "Blue Clear Sky" in 1997. He has won numerous American Music Awards and won Best Country Male Vocalist in 1991. 1996, he received the award for Favorite Country Album for "Clear Blue Sky".
