  • Essay / Personal Experience During an Interview - 670

When I think of the word interview, I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment, we were asked to interview a colleague about their personal experience with QIBT so far this year. We weren't asked any questions, but we were made to think about our own. While we were interviewing our peer, another peer was rating us on our overall interviewing ability. This reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought were my personal strengths and weaknesses throughout my interview. By reflecting on my previous interview, I was able to separate the positive and negative aspects of my interview, giving me time to consider the effects the negatives had on my overall interview skills and how I can improve these weaknesses for future interview opportunities. The main points that I felt I completed well were: my understanding of how to use a range of open-ended questions, as well as my ability to create a welcoming environment by establishing an immediate rapport. From the beginning of my interview, I made it my personal goal to create a professional environment that allowed Mary Doe to feel safe and able to speak openly when answering my questions about QIBT. One personal factor I made sure I did correctly was arriving at the assessment dressed appropriately. This allows you to establish a professional theme from the start of the interview. I started the interview well by introducing myself and the purpose of this interview. This makes it clear to her that nothing said today leaves this room, and I followed that up by making sure she understood that and if she had any concerns before or...at middle of document..... I feel uncomfortable. My overall interaction throughout the interview seemed positive. I allowed myself to follow what we had previously learned in class about body language to have a positive effect on my interview. Mary Doe found this reflected as she remained calm with positive body language throughout the interview, even when we delved deeper into some questions she remained calm and open to answer. This would not be possible if the environment I created for the interview was built on negative interaction, because she and I would be closed off to the idea of opening up and answering any questions. Through effective body language, I was able to facilitate effective communication. Body language plays an important role in effective communication. This skill sets the overall tone for the entire interview. “Pan American Health Organization”
