Four hijacked airliners killed nearly three thousand people. September 11 changed millions of lives forever. American citizens did not feel safe. This attack was a wake-up call for American security. The September 11 attacks forced the country to recognize its shortcomings and correct them, before further damage could befall the United States of America. September 11, like all acts of terrorism, favored the development of technology, in this case security in the United States. 9/11 also sparked feelings of hatred towards the country. The United States quickly became known as one of the most intolerable nations on the planet. Finally, September 11th massacred the economy and forced it to take a long road to recovery. After September 11, security increased significantly nationwide. A major example of this is the number of agencies created in the wake of 9/11. Among these agencies are the creation of the TSA (Transportation Security Administration), the DHS (Department of Homeland Security), ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), and finally the massive advance of the US Coast Guard. Each of these agencies' budgets has doubled since September 11. The primary purpose of creating the Transportation and Security Administrations is to improve the safety of all U.S. citizens traveling by air. The TSA has begun implementing new policies and technological advancements. One of the first new technologies introduced by the TSA was better filters. A new filter known as AIT or Advance Imaging Technology has been created to thwart elements that might have been hidden from the site or...... middle of paper ...... available to software programs stimulus aimed at stimulating the economy out of the 2008 financial crisis. This led to a decrease in job creation, which translated into a decrease in tax revenue and an increase in debt. September 11 was a horrible incident. There are no words to describe how deeply this affected the America my generation knew. This atrocity hurt the economy and made us an intolerant country; however, this same atrocity has also opened the eyes of our nations. This showed us how vulnerable we were and, as a result, the security of our country and the concern for the security of its citizens increased. While it is important to recognize how terrible the September 11 attacks were, it is also important to recognize how much they helped our great nation. 9/11 and similar events are important. They show us how to improve our country and, although painful, these events are necessary for the growth of our country..
