Essay / Follow the path of sperm from the testicles to the urethra
Male Reproductive SystemFemale Reproductive SystemTestsPenis• There are two testicles, located outside the body, in sac-like structures called the scrotum, in the pelvic region, behind the penis and in front of the anus. (David, 2014)• The testicles each weigh approximately 25 grams; they measure 4 to 5 cm in length and 2 to 3 cm in width. (David, 2014) • The testicles are covered with a fibrous capsule called the tunica Albuginea (David, 2014). • The tunic is divided by fibrous tissues to form a web-like web. lobes. Each lobe is made up of 3 to 10 coiled tubules called seminiferous tubules surrounded by connective tissue. (David, 2014)• The penis has three parts: the root which is attached to the wall of the abdomen, the body or shaft and the glans. The glans is the head of the penis which is covered by a layer of loose skin called the foreskin. The opening to the urethra is at the end of the glans and is contained within the corpus spongiosum. • The penis contains a number of sensitive nerves. endings, lymphatic and blood vessels, as well as two suspensory ligaments made of elastic fibers.• The body of the penis is cylindrical in shape and consists of three internal chambers, the corpus spongiosum,• The three chambers consist of erectile tissues resembling sponges called corpora cavernosa. They contain large spaces filled with blood; the skin is loose and elastic.• Erectile tissues lie in tiny pools of blood vessels called cavernous sinuses.• Each of these muscles is surrounded by smooth muscle and supported by elastic fibrous tissue, made of proteins called collagen.Epididymis• The epididymis is a coiled tube, similar to a cord-like structure, located at the back of the testicles, in the middle of the paper......the layers have longitudinal fibers. These fiber endings are called fimbriae. (Encyclopedia Britannica Editors, 2014) The Uterus • The uterus is a thick muscular organ located medial to the abdomen. In an adult woman, the uterus is 7.5 cm long, 5 cm wide and 2.5 cm thick before pregnancy. (Dr. Barbara, 2014) • The thinnest part of the uterus known as the cervix. The front part of the body of the uterus is known as the corpus uterine. It's more circular. (Dr Barbara, 2014) • The uterus is made up of three layers: the myometrium, which forms the majority of the musculature of the uterus, very firm and made up of dense, non-bare smooth muscle fibers. The serous membrane, the outer layer that covers most of the uterus, then folds over to form the uterine ligament on each side. The endometrium is the innermost membrane that lines the uterine cavity of the uterus. (Dr. Barbara,2014 )
