First known as Steveland Hardaway Judkins changed his original name to Steveland Hardaway Morris, known as Stevie Wonder (Source C-"Biography." ). Born on May 13, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan, Stevie Wonder was born with a condition called retinopathy of prematurity where he received too much oxygen in the incubator as a premature baby, rendering him completely blind (Source A - "Steveland Hardaway Morris."). Retinopathy of prematurity is the cause of a premature baby whose eye vessels have not yet fully or abnormally developed from the retina to the back of the eye. Later, the founder of Motown signed a recording contract with Stevie, and from then on, Stevie Wonder was well known as "Little Stevie Wonder" and released his first single "Fingertips, Part 2” in 1963, at the age of 12 (Source D-“The Pop History Dig” “Fingertips – Pt.2″1963.”). Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" was developed in May 1973 and reached "No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Us Hot R&B Singles chart" (Source E- "Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder Song)"). The song “Higher Ground” has a continuous repetition of “I'll keep trying / Until I reach my highest level” (12-13).
