Jo is an outspoken tomboy who is nothing like her three sisters, she curses and hates acting like a lady. She is a forgiving person and makes sacrifices for her sisters. She refused to marry a man she loved because she knew her sister loved him. At the end of the novel, she marries an older man and consequently loses the independence she had throughout the novel. Beth March: Beth is a shy and quiet person, she is so shy that she doesn't even go to school. Alcott makes Beth an angelic character because she is truly kind and gentle. Beth always managed to keep herself and her sisters calm when times got difficult or complicated. Beth dies, a slow death, she gets sick doing an act of kindness. Amy March: The youngest sister, who knows how to manipulate others. She cares a lot about what people say about her, she always tries to act like a lady. to please everyone. Amy gets what she wants in the end, she has the happiest and most optimistic ending of all her sisters. Meg March: The older sister, responsible and kind to everyone. She is materialistic and has a weakness for luxury. She ends up marrying a man who has money and gives birth to twins, she and her husband soon become poor. Her main role is that she behaves like an adult and she acts as a second mother to her sisters. Marmee (Mrs. March): Mother of March's daughters, Marmee is the moral role model for her daughters.
