As with any code of ethics, the physician assistant profession has revised its code of ethics to keep up with developments in the medical field. Four major bioethical principles have largely guided the development of these guidelines: autonomy, beneficence, absence of malfeasance and justice.3 This physician assistant (PA) must follow the rule of doing no harm, understanding that the patient has the right to make decisions about their care, always act in the patient's best interest, treat all patients the same, and ensure that care is consistent for everyone
