  • Essay / Reflection on the Image of God - 738

So thus far we have learned about our relationship with Christ and how we are saved by his mercy and grace. From his birth to his death, our debts are paid so that we have eternal life. Now, the image of God is something that everyone can perceive differently, because everyone's understanding is not identical. In this essay, you will learn about my personal perspective on the image of God and a little about why I chose my major as it is today. I'm going to take you on a journey where judging others was easy and making choices without God's authority. The place I landed wasn't very comfortable, but with God's grace, he got me through everything that seemed impossible. The term “image” can be described as something in the very nature of man, in the way he was created (Etzel & Gutiérrez, 2012). Therefore, we are created in the image of God so that we will become more like Him even with the fall of man. Even though the full term "Image of God" is not specified, there is enough evidence or detail to put the pieces together, since God created man in his own image. We are therefore the reflection of Christ himself. God says, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge according to righteousness (John 7:2).” No one has the authority except Christ to judge others for their wrongs and errors. There came a time when, even though I knew Christ and was saved, I tried to judge others by their appearance rather than their personality. I worked in a call center and during my training I learned that the man training me was a very godly man, always reading his Bible between calls and praying several times during the day. The whole time there was a woman sitting across from us who looked weird. I said to myself "I don't like him" but little...... middle of paper ......re humans are without excuse. “For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes have been clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and divinity, so that they are without excuse. » Through Christ, all things are made new and without the image of God, one can only imagine the hatred people would have towards each other. The ultimate image of God is Love. 1 Corinthians talks about what Love is and 1 John 3:18 clarifies it by saying “let us love not with words or with tongue, but with deeds and in truth”. This verse in itself is the image of Christ because you imagine how much he loved us so much, he gave his life for you and me. References: Bible, D. (1798). NKJV. Thomas Nelson.
