Health care is an activity that involves early protection, prompt treatment and management of disease as well as mental and physical condition by providing necessary services. The characteristics of a given group of people in an area commonly referred to as demographics include: age, gender, race, income, employment status, disability, literacy level, and means of transportation. Unity Health Care was established in 1985 to provide the first services to people experiencing homelessness and farms surrounding shelters or sidewalks in the District of Columbia. These include people without insurance coverage, those living in poverty but working, and those who are homebound and were previously confined to a particular area. The institution has grown and is currently the largest health care organization in the region (Unity Health Care, 2007). Unity Health Care provides high-quality human health services nationwide without demographic bias. The establishment has 29 delivery centers located in each division of the administrative units of Colombia. The facility serves more than 81,000 individuals and households in any given year. Services are offered through the channels of health service centers to the eight divisions of the administrative units of Colombia. There are fourteen health centers for the social sector and at least nine areas of medical care for homeless people. These channels include mobile medical units, facilities caring for people without property, and community health centers (Unity Health Care, 2007).
