I am writing to express my interest in applying for the SUSCOS master's program. I believe the program fits perfectly with my efforts to achieve my professional goals of becoming a global expert in structural engineering. I believe my academic background, practical experience, and passion for structural engineering will be a good fit for the program. My undergraduate studies at Universitas Indonesia1 gave me the first tools to realize my passion for analyzing and designing different types of structures. After graduating “with first class honors” in 2011, I took the opportunity to put all the theories and applications I learned at university into practice by working as a structural engineer. In my work, I have designed steel and reinforced concrete structures such as industrial warehouses, residential housing and retail stores. Every task I faced during my work forces me to continually improve the quality of my design and makes me aware of future challenges in my career. These, together with my learning passion for structural engineering, become the driving force for me to pursue master's studies. The SUSCOS master program presents itself as an excellent option to advance my skills and knowledge in structural engineering. The program will prepare me to tackle the issue of sustainable construction, which has become a growing demand for structural engineers in recent years. On the other hand, it will also deepen my understanding of structural behavior under dynamic loads (e.g. earthquake, wind, explosion), which is essential to support my career in a country vulnerable to natural disasters like Indonesia. Additionally, I am very keen to learn how to design the structure from alternative materials such as aluminum, glass, stainless steel and wood...... middle of paper..... .SUSCOS master program, I will be equipped with all aspects necessary to design a sustainable steel structure and gain a good understanding of Eurocode. This is a comprehensive guide that I can refer to to support my work, specifically related to steel structures. Following my participation in the SUSCOS master program, I will seek the opportunity to stay and work in Europe for approximately 2 years to enrich my practical experience. With my improved skills and practical experiences, I believe I will play more of a leadership role in large-scale projects when I return to Indonesia. My goals are within 10 years, I hope to establish myself as a highly rated engineer and fulfill my childhood dream of designing monumental structures such as high-rise buildings, huge stadiums and bridges long range.
