Essay / Gerardo Zepeda Essay - 1137
Gerardo has a true passion and respect for wrestling, it was at the age of 19 that Gerardo began his wrestling career. It was not until the age of 25 that he began acting. My professor mentioned in class that many classic era films projected cultural nationalism in Mexican cinema. I wanted to know if my grandfather saw a difference over the years in Mexican cinema. He said it was debatable, it all depended on what type of film it was. He was only part of two films projecting cultural nationalism in which he had to play the typical "macho" man in cowboy boots. As the years went by, things started to change as films were not being made in small towns but rather in cities, everything seemed more modernized. However, it is the propaganda that has changed radically. Since we are now much more advanced in technology, it was more difficult for directors to promote their films. Gerardo said they didn't have YouTube or Twitter, where ads for the films were shown. He remembers that the only ways films were promoted were through the radio or posters stuck on the wall.
