Hurricane KatrinaAmong the many terrible side effects of major natural disasters, corruption in the basic systems that residents rely on of the United States is probably the most frustrating and infuriating. In the case of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, this common aftereffect was most evident in New Orleans, Louisiana. From the police officers to the courts of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina unleashed travesties of justice across the city, affecting everyone who relied on their government to guarantee their safety and rights. The law and order system relies on police officers, prosecutors, and many others to enforce the standards and rights that citizens expect from the United States government. New Orleans' law and order system was found to be weakened and corrupt after Hurricane Katrina, as evidenced by some cases experienced by New Orleans residents. The actions of Travis McCabe and Lt. Dwayne Scheuermann as well as officers David Warren and Gregory McRae surrounding the death of 31-year-old Henry Glover represent the worst in New Orleans' policing system since Hurricane Katrina. Each man is accused of different and equally disturbing crimes. Officer Warren is charged with the shooting and Glover's death. His partner, Linda Howard, testified that Warren shot the unarmed Glover with his personal assault rifle as the man fled through the Algiers mall parking lot. Warren said: “I didn't hit him. " but Howard told Warren that was the case. There was confusion after the incident. His particular actions were not corrupt like those of Lt. Travis McCabe and Officer Gregory McRae, but they were still negligent and a case of a breakdown of the law and order system. Officer Gregory McRae, Lt.
