Essay / Chrysalids: The importance of telepathy - 712
Chrysalids: The importance of telepathySome people dream of having the ability to communicate through mental telepathy. Some even claimed to have this ability, but it played an important role in the novel The Chrysalids. The author has created an interesting environment. There was no communication and the only people able to communicate with each other were those who possessed the power of telepathy. Because in some areas the land was so dangerous from radiation that people were cut off from others and left on a small piece of land. They couldn't communicate. The good forms not only developed the plot of the story, but also greatly affected the lives of some characters and could affect Waknuk. We all know that the people of Waknuk were very superstitious, but did that actually help the plot develop? On pages 91-103, an idea finally emerges that some people are able to communicate through thought forms. When Katherine and Sally were arrested and tortured, they eventually gave some names to the inspector. This forces David, Rosalind and Petra to flee to the margins and they make some sort of contact with a woman from Sealant (Zealand, page 134). The help promised by the sealing woman is on its way to the margins. The plot is greatly influenced, David learns more things as time goes on. He finds out who Spiderman (Gordon) is and where Sophie is. He meets them and discovers what it means to live on the margins. When the Sealing Woman rescues David, Rosalind, and Petra, they are brought to a large, developed city like the one in David's dreams. Thanks to telepathy, David discovers that such a city really exists, but especially thanks to Petra, they establish contact with a people more civilized than them. Due to the conflicts in the story, it leads the main characters to discover the city of the sealer. Telepathy affects not only the plot of the story but also the main characters of the novel. The most obvious is that David, Rosalind and Petra are saved. They have the chance to learn and experience new things they have never seen or heard before..
