Judith Lorber explains that gender is socially constructed in this first chapter of her book. Lorber states that gender is a human creation and has been treated differently in all societies around the world due to their unique norms and ways. According to Lorber, gender is created to maintain the order in which things operate in a society. Lorber also explains that there are gender signs and signals in our lives that are so pervasive. Thus, people receive a message telling everyone that every human being must be placed in a gender status and act that way, otherwise they become aberrant. On the other hand, media has always been and will always be the best and most influential tool to convey messages to the whole world. So the media covers a lot of the broadcast of all these signs and signals all over the world. It answers my research question by indicating the gender signs and signals that society and its tool, the media, have created. In this case, this source is not only related to my research, but also supports me. In this article, Serkan Gorkemli focuses on the representation of LGBT people by Internet media. On the other hand, the use of the Internet by lesbian and gay activists is the other important main topic of this article. First, Gorkemli investigates the denial of homosexuality by traditional media, such as the written press and television. After his in-depth investigations into mainstream media that neglected LGBT people, he claims that television began to portray LGBT people as gender "deviants." Generally speaking, Gorkemli highlights the role of media in shaping gender norms and attitudes towards homosexuality. The article is interesting and extremely useful. "Sexuality and the traditional self... middle of paper ... to expose what people think about LGBT people when they have actually had social contact with them for a period of time." As a result, Sakalli pointed out that most negative stereotypes were present when participants defined gay men. Conversely, the fact that the participants are students shows that even the most educated citizens of this country do not have an open point of view towards people different from them. Students' way of thinking reflects the views of future CEOs, presidents and game changers. Since media and peer pressure are the best way to introduce an idea subliminally into someone's mind one, the idea of being gay is wrong was introduced by Turkish media and society into the minds of these students when they were just innocent children. To support my research, this article is an effective source, which tells what people think about LGBT people..
