    I think he actually begins to admire and idolize Mr. Keating because he can do everything that Todd can't do. Mr. Keating encourages behavior he never thought he could talk about. Todd therefore begins to gain more confidence in himself and to defend himself. When Todd discovered Neil, I think that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. He was tired of just being pushed around and not being able to stand up for what he believes in or what he wants to do. He's also tired of having to try to put himself in his brother's shoes. His parents make him understand that his brother was an INCREDIBLE person and that he could never be as great as him.
