  • Essay / The decision that will impact me for the rest of my life

Everyone has experienced an event or made an important decision that will positively affect their life. A pivotal decision I made that will impact me for the rest of my life came in early 2016, when I was fifteen. Often, like most young teenagers, I didn't know what I was going to do with life. In fact, I was lost in every aspect. I had no drive or motor. I wasn't living a life full of despair and sadness, I just needed to find myself and find purpose. Say no to plagiarism. All summer, I decided to focus on where I was and where I wanted to be, and who I wanted to become in my life. I was determined that transferring high school would bring a positive new start to my life. I knew I had to leave my life of mediocrity behind. The way I was living was not what one would describe as a good state. I was just making a half-hearted effort for my future, and it was unhealthy. I lived my life through others, which means I lived for the satisfaction of all. I had to let go of some harmful friendships and relationships from the past, so I began to isolate and distance myself. A lot of people would think that isolating myself would be unhealthy for me, but that wasn't the case. Most of the friendships I was in were unwanted. Most people can't do something like that, I didn't take the usual route because it's not for me. Through the journey of finding myself, I had to commit and recognize myself to my faith. I chose not to try things, but to overcome them, to dedicate myself to them one hundred and ten percent and to see it through to the end. I knew I was going to lose even more friends and relationships, because they don't understand why I don't adhere to the dogma. I found something worth searching for and my goal. Right after I started to really find myself, the new school started. Since then, I have made the decision to move forward and achieve what I want to be. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. I went from the McEachern High School Freshman basketball team to the Mays High School varsity basketball team. I made the Varsity Basketball team and started as a sophomore for the first half of the season. I also ran Cross Country. I have maintained these grades until now. I am now a member of Varsity Football, Track and Field, and Basketball. I am now a member of the CAC, Honors Math Club and qualified to join the BETA Club & National Honors Society. I also now own my own business where I sell my own merchandise. My successes thus far in my short time can all be attributed to the decision I made to find myself this spring and summer 2016.
