My family and I attend Willow Church of the Nazarene and have been members there for thirteen years. I have been active in my youth group since I was in seventh grade and have loved it ever since. I have participated in many camps and activities with my youth group. I am close to everyone in my youth group and consider some of them family. Many of my school friends belong to the same youth group, and it is very involved in the community. The symbol of the cross is extremely meaningful to me. I chose to include a photo of myself in my marching band uniform. I have been a member of the Willow Marching Band since my freshman year. So far, I have written in band every year and played several instruments throughout high school. I took piano lessons when I was younger, so this photo illustrates not only my involvement in a band, but also my musical interests, abilities, and school pride. I enjoy walking to all the home soccer games and participating in many group competitions each year. I used a photo from my childhood and also competed in local rodeos. My younger brother and I sometimes rode the mechanical bull at these rodeos, but sheep were the only real animals our mother would let us ride. I have always had fun at rodeos because they fascinated me from a very young age. Riding sheep and going to rodeos was something we loved to do with our grandfather. My grandfather died of cancer when I was eight years old and I have many fond memories of going to rodeos with him. We sometimes drove two hours just to ride sheep. This photo symbolizes a large part of my childhood. The photo of me in the back of my dad's truck shows the countless hours I spent hunting with my dad. We go turkey and deer hunting every year at our Iowa hunting property. I am a more accomplished turkey hunter than a deer hunter, and I would say I enjoy turkey hunting the most. Nonetheless, hunting has been a big part of my life since I was old enough to wield a gun, in part because of the fond memories I have of spending time with my family during deer season. It's a hobby that I've gotten progressively better at over the years, but I've always enjoyed it the same way. My grandfather, father, and uncle taught me a lot about hunting and it's a way for my family to spend time together. The photo of me in my scout uniform represents the years I spent in scouts and all that I have accomplished. during this time. I joined the Boy Scouts in kindergarten and became an Eagle Scout earlier this year. I have attended numerous camps and camps with the Boy Scouts and earned twice the required number of merit badges to receive my Eagle Scout Award. My father was an Eagle Scout and my younger brother is working to receive his. We.
