    The Lottery Ticket by Anton Paviovich Chekhov is a very dramatic story! Chekhov uses dialogue to reveal feelings and information about the characters. The author states: “'I should certainly go abroad too,' said his wife, 'But look at the ticket number'” (Chekhov 3). The dialogue makes the reader happy that the woman can do whatever she wants. However, the reader still doesn't know whether he won the lottery or not. The reader knows a lot about the characters from the words they speak to each other. Additionally, the reader gets insight into how the main characters react to situations and how they feel through dialogue in the story. To give the reader more information about the characters, the book says: "It's very pleasant to daydream at the expense of others!" » that's what his eyes expressed: "No, don't dare" (Chekhov 4). The dialogue expresses how both the husband and wife are greedy because they want the money for themselves and would do anything to get it. Chekhov uses words in dialogue to make the reader unsure of what is happening between his husband and wife....
