    James Joyce's text, Araby, is quite an intriguing text. Throughout his life, Joyce was nominated among the five best literary stories of the 20th century. Not only is this a tremendous goal and accomplishment, but while authors struggle to even make the top 100, James Joyce placed two of his texts in the top five. Any writer who could write as well as Joyce would certainly be an exceptional writer. However, in this text, Araby, by James Joyce, includes a little boy who wants to buy his daughter something special at a thrift store (Araby). As you continue to read the short story, you understand that the narrator has lost something and gained something. In the text Araby, the narrator feels a special feeling called love and he loses what he is trying to get for his daughter. Araby, this can mean many things.
