    What does it take to be a policeman?My heart skipped a beat and immediately my mind started racing; Did she speed up? Hasn't it completely stopped? Why was the officer behind us with his lights on? These were all thoughts that crossed my mind when a police officer flashed his blue and red lights while my mother was driving. I couldn't help but think that we were in trouble, but as quickly as those thoughts came; they left as he walked right past us. It was like we dodged a bullet. I already knew that police officers do more than stop people and give them tickets. They respond to noise complaints, drive and patrol areas with high crime activity, respond to accidents, and go to people's homes if they call 911. I would like to know more about the type of calls that officers respond to and the type of person it is to be a police officer. Do officers respond to every 911 call? Are they ever afraid when they receive a call? I would also like to know how much money they make and what their work schedule is. Ultimately, is risking your life worth the pay? The desire to one day become a police officer inspired me to want to learn more about a career in law enforcement. Will I ever have what it takes to be a police officer? After doing my research, I was able to answer this question. The Story of My Research I began my research by speaking to my aunt, Corporal Nunes. I made an appointment and met her at work. She is a police officer with the Sonoma State University Police Department. She has been with the Sonoma State University Police Department for 12 and a half years now and still loves her job.
