Essay / Final Shot - 520
It was February 3, 2005, it was my championship match. I still can't believe you didn't go to that game Kenny. It was the best game I played in my entire basketball career. It all started when I was listening to my CD player, I was already in my zones so at the time of the match I entered the field with my team warming up talking about the best player of the other team. I was trying to warm up properly so as not to get injured during the match, it was just too important for me to miss a match. Time must have passed quickly because before I knew it, the buzzer had sounded and the game was about to begin. We talked to our coach and he told us to go out there and have fun because win or lose, we are still the champions in our hearts. When we got to the middle of the field, everyone shook hands, and then everyone stood there. The referee threw the ball in the air, my teammate hit it towards me and I immediately got my first two points of the match. In the first half, I was on a roll, I had 20 points but Anthony, the star of the other team, had 25 points and the lead of the game since the score at half time was 45 to 40. In the last quarter of the match it was time for me to regain control of the game as I took on Anthony each scoring one after the other trying to see who I would give up first. It was 95 to 94. There were 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter. I had the ball in my hand while Anthony played defense against me. I took him to the right and shot up for the jump shot. Nothing but net I had scored my 45th point of the game. The crowd left, just like me. I felt like Jordan during that moment, but Anthony's team made the final shot with 4 seconds on the clock. I knew in my mind it was up to me to stop him from scoring. Anthony gets the ball and takes me to the left. A choice is put in place for him, leaving him wide open. I just closed my eyes when I hear the crowd roar at the buzzer, then I see my teammates.
