    Weddings are a very joyful occasion, not only for the bride and groom, but also for their friends and family who may join in the celebration. A marriage allows two people in love to legally unite and spend their lives together, serving each other in devoted infatuation. It's also a way to show their love to the world and really enjoy being together. Most wedding ceremonies revolve around the traditions of a certain religion, and each religion has its own way of conducting such a ceremony. Each can be very different or similar. In the case of Buddhism and Muslim traditions, weddings differ when it comes to the actual ceremony. Buddhist weddings are not entirely focused on religious traditions. Although based on couples' preferences, most Buddhist wedding ceremonies are based more on faith and beliefs than on religious foundations. The couple is “more inclined towards a sincere effort to create a harmonious relationship” (“Buddhist Wedding Ceremony – Buddhist Wedding Traditions, Buddhist Wedding Rituals”). Rather than paying homage to a higher power on their wedding day, a couple will focus on serving each other and contributing to each other's happiness. The ceremony is about the “vow to maintain a harmonious and spiritually healthy relationship” (“Rituals of a Buddhist Wedding Ceremony – Thailand Wedding Planning Guide”). There are no special rules or regulations for a marriage in this religion; rather, it is a social ritual intended to ensure that the marriage is legally contracted.
