In “Let Them Eat Dog” by Jonathan Safran Foer, he addresses a controversial but debatable topic. The topic concerns eating dogs and whether this is moral and right. This is a question that must be considered from two angles: either it is completely true or it is completely false, there is no in-between. The argument for dog eating is presented using ethos, pathos, and logos. Foer makes a number of important arguments to explain why eating dogs is moral and immoral. Ultimately, he leaves it up to the reader to decide whose side they are on. Eating pets is taboo, but dogs are not the only pets. I believe Foer stops short of dogs to preserve the man's best friend angle. Research on Foer sites shows that dogs have mental abilities very similar to those of a pig, a cow and a chicken. Ethos comes into play because researchers say dogs have mental abilities similar to other animals, but people think it is immoral to kill dogs but moral to kill chickens, cows, or pigs ; Furthermore, Foer states that "if we let dogs breed on their own, the country would have a local meat production system....
