I remember with all my family members the day we received the news from our doctor that my father had prostate cancer. We received this news like thunder in our ears, because a year before we had lost our sister to breast cancer, and we still remember the pain and suffering that cancer had caused. As a result, no one in our family believed we were going to lose our father either. My father suffered from prostate cancer for almost two years, as the cancer had already spread to his bones. Before my father discovered cancer, he suffered from back pain. Because of this back pain, he consulted a doctor and started taking medication to relieve his back pain. He also tried to use a crutch to support himself when walking, especially when going to the mosque. The pain in his back was still quite severe and he also had minor problems urinating and needed to go to the bathroom more than usual. We thought it was normal because my father also had diabetes and going to the bathroom more frequently was a normal symptom. So he was not concerned or interested in this problem. One day, my father had an accident and suffered a fractured femur. Surgery was required and after the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Fadil, a specialist in bone surgery at CNSS Hospital in Mohammedabad, Morocco. Many physiotherapy courses were required. I visited the doctor for x-rays of my father and was surprised to find a dark shadow around the base of the fracture, which turned out to be bone cancer.
