Essay / The Importance of Civic Life - 1426
Not all constitutions are the same as the United States Constitution; many other countries are actually quite different, with the exception of France. In some countries it is simply a description of the form of government and in less depth than the United States Constitution. Our Constitution is a higher law that describes the limits of our government, protects the rights of citizens, and promotes the common good of the country. In an unlimited government, constitutions exist but do not bring much to the country because they do not constrain those in power. However, having a limited government like that of the United States does not guarantee that every rule is followed or obeyed correctly at all times by everyone or by the government. The best way for the government to comply properly is for citizens to follow the laws and guidelines of the constitution and not threaten the power or rules of the government. If this happens and people respect the constitution, it should create a civil society and protect everyone's interests.
