Essay / Persuasive Essay on Obesity in Schools - 1254
Since 1971, obesity has increased by 70.4% (Lewis). Obesity has accelerated at a ridiculous rate. More than 32 million children eat school lunch every day (Lewis). One or two thirds of their daily meals are provided by their schools; therefore, most of their daily consumption is entrusted to our government (Lewis). Given that obesity has increased significantly since the 1970s, it is entirely reasonable to blame school meals for the growth in obesity over the past 45 years (Food Timeline). Obesity does not develop in children who eat breakfast at home. Most parents make sure to prepare healthy lunches for their children every day. In fact, bagged lunches or lunches that come from home usually consist of home-cooked meals that children generally do not refuse (Cluggish). My observation is that children are more likely to eat healthy home-cooked meals than not to.
